Hi

Few days ago i got mailbox with new Mahlkonig Vario (European version of Baratza Vario) then i took a best coffee i could find here, put it in it, push "start" and what a sad - it doesn't grind. Motor is working fine, i could hear how grinds are moving but i can't see the coffee. I'm think there are too much space between grinds. I can't send it to RMA because it will cost another Vario.

could you give me some advices what should i do? disassemble it? change something?

here is pic

Hi Nau,
If the motor is running (and the burr is turning) and it is not grinding any beans, there is a possibility that the polarity of the motor is reversed. A quick check is to press the start button with no beans in the grinder and look carefully as the burr spins to a stop (by pressing the start button again) to see if the burr is turning COUNTERclockwise. I also notice this is a Mahlkoenig branded Vario, not a Baratza. Where are you located? and is there a dealer near you? Certainly the Vario is covered by a warranty. Please let me know what you find and if I can assist you further.
Regards, Kyle (Baratza)

To increase grinding size.
Probably, at you light grain... It is firmer.

Hi Kyle, thanks for reply

yes you are right, it's Mahlkoenig Vario (i guess moderator had edited topic name), because we had here 220v. I had check how burr is turning and it's going clockwise (not counterclockwise). Is it reversed?

I'm located in Kazakhstan, Almaty and i think there is no dealer here.

Rostik_KIEV, any grinder should make some grounds at any regulator position. Mine does not do any at any position.

Hi Anton,
I am sorry for my long delay in getting back to you. Your grinder is turning in the WRONG direction. It should be rotating COUNTER clockwise. The fix for this is very simple and quick to do. It requires only that the plug for the motor wires be reversed and reconnected. The plug is a simple 2-pin connector that slips onto the power board (inside the grinder). The only tools required to do this fix is a Phillips screwdriver and about 5 minutes of your time. Please email me with your contact info and I will send you instructions for getting inside the grinder.
Regards,
Kyle

Agreed especially since it isn't even a Baratza grinder! I have a special loyalty to companies that back up products they didn't sell and didn't make any money on.
