That looks like a good consistent grind! Since the flow rate is adjusted by fines mostly rather than particle size changes (at least I think that's what I was reading) you should be good....
And you don't have to change the setting for French press either..
I drink two shots before I drink two shots, then I drink two more....

Even funnier.Almico wrote:Correct. If you can tamp hard enough, you don't even need a grinder.
OK, back on topic, the little shim from Baratza I've installed gives me a whole extra full click. Cool.

On the 270W, is it possible to use with a portafilter that includes a funnel (cylinder)?
Or,
Can you place a basket with funnel in the Sette without using the rear protafilter holder (just the side bars)?

Yes, thanks, I saw the question/answer. That person may not need a funnel when dosing 17g into a double or 18g basket. But, I definetly benefit from using a funnel, esp when updosing.
I am hoping someone can tell me if its possible to use a funnel with the 270W. Further, if a funnel works, what is the clearance from the portafilter to chute?

The rear hook supports the weight of the portafilter handle. Without it, you would have to hold the portafilter while grinding. Not a bad option consider the fast grind. The rear hook turns out of the way to make room for the grounds bin or V60 dripper.Jshot wrote:On the 270W, is it possible to use with a portafilter that includes a funnel (cylinder)?

That said, you can probably adjust the rear hook to accommodate the funnel if you're going to use it regularly.
What chute? There is no chute to speak of. If you're talking about the bottom of the burrs, I guess that would depend on the height of your portafilter.Jshot wrote: Further, if a funnel works, what is the clearance from the portafilter to chute?

The re-designed Sette's don't have a rear hook, they have a flange on the back.Almico wrote:The rear hook supports the weight of the portafilter handle. I'm asking about the 270W, so holding the portafilter is a no-go while grinding a weighed dose. I was liking the 270W over the 270 if I could get the funnel in there. Because of the rear hook or flange that goes over the basket, seems a funnel would not fit properly. One would have to customize the hooks to exent to the handle for full support I suppose.Almico wrote:The rear hook supports the weight of the portafilter handle. Chute? I am referring to the lowest exit point on the Sette. I want to know how much room there is for a funnel.

You'll probably have to wait until the final production version comes out. I'm not sure if what I have is a Band-aid, or the final solution. But it would certainly depend on your portafilter and funnel height.
