Need Mazzer Major electrical help (older model)

Postby rferoni on Mon Sep 13, 2010 6:42 pm

All,

I want to put my doser back on the Major and didn't do a good job marking things when I took it apart 4 years ago. So...I need to know how the two wires connect inside the major that go to the grind-stop trigger(or whatever you call that thing). Also, I have another piece with two wires coming out of it that I don't know where/what it is for. It's a small white plastic piece with a thin metal 'arm' and a tiny roller attatched to it.

I could also use a picture of the underside of the doser with the cover off.

If anyone can help or point me in the right direction I would sure appreciate it.

FWIW I'm putting the doser on for a buyer as I'm happy with my Vario...

Thank you all

According to Mazzer Major Wiring Diagram, Owen has an electrical schematic in PDF format. If he or someone else has it handy, I'll be happy to upload it here for future reference.

UPDATE: For easier reference, I've uploaded the Mazzer grinder wiring diagrams (PDF 2.5M) to the site download area. Thanks Owen!

Thanks everyone. I figured out where everything goes except for the wire connections. Hopefully the correct schematic will turn up. It looks like the Super jolly schematic is a little different than what I have. Not sure if this would make a difference, but my Major is a Major Luigi which I believe is a Mazzer rebranded as a RIO, correct?

Sounds like you are trying to hook up the doser switches that just about everyone that uses one of these in a home have removed. Why would you want them? If you do away with the doser switches & add jumpers where the wires attached your Auto/Start switch will work like a standard On/Off switch. I can take a few pics of the jumper locations in the morning if you are interested.

I am selling the grinder and the buyer wants everything hooked back up. They are the doser wires I am trying to hook back up. I have it jumpered out, I can't remember how to hook it back up the right way...

Have you explained that it's a positive feature that it comes pre-modified?

The black plastic block with hinged metal flapper at top of doser chamber contains microswitch that stops auto grinding when doser is full. It is totally useless for home users and prevents the grinder dispensing chute from being easily reached for clean out. The plastic thing with wheel etc. underneath doser chamber is the device that automatically turns on grinder to grind more after each x number of doser pulls - also useless for home users.

The wires going to the black block can be connected directly together with a butt splice, and the red wires going to plastic wheel assembly under the doser can simply be disconnected or even removed from inside terminal block altogether.

I think you already wrote to me for the schematic but, having just pulled the black plastic black out and jumpered / disconnected the wires in Major - I strongly recommend it.
