Need help with Mazzer Major wiring

Postby Tom@Steve'sEspresso on Mon Nov 29, 2010 9:35 pm

So I had to swap switches on a few grinders, and the Major was the temporary donor. I was clearly NOT thinking and took no pictures of the wiring setup for the timer switch before the swap. I've searched around for hours and have come up with zero as to what wires go where. And from the looks of it, I think my Major is wired differently than what I've seen on the 'net. And I am clearly electrically challenged. HELP!
Thanks, Tom.

2 brown wires for switch, the other 2 taped browns are from the microswitch. The blue wire is another for the switch.

the new switch, same as the previous one.

This is the wiring diagram (with some color added for clarity) of a Major Auto.Image

Let me know if this does not clear things up for you. Remember that there is enough electricity in there to both kill you and let all the magic blue smoke out of your motor.

Thanks Chris! Looking at the schematic makes me think I ought to rewire the whole machine because my positions don't match up. Although your clarification of the switch will help me the most. I'm so pissed at myself that I pulled this folly and am really missing my nightly cup at home. My home lever has sat idle for months since this happened except when I brought home my office grinder for the holiday last weekend.

Cheers

Many thanks for this coloured diagram. It has been invaluable in our repair and we were really floundering b4 we found it. Cheers from Sydney, Australia. Jenny

Glad somebody else benefitted from my detrimental err. Sadly my Major has ground its last bean, thanks to me.

My repair guys said I blew out the coil. I'm a little lacking in the electrical department, I guess. It's ok though, I'm looking forward to a new experience with Orphanespresso's new hand grinder due to arrive in a few weeks for the house. My RR45 is just too loud and messy. Live and learn I suppose.
