Mazzer Super Jolly wattage

Postby DolceVitaBaby on Sun Feb 21, 2010 8:03 pm

hi, I bought an older super jolly used, with the aluminum doser with the vertical grooves, it appears to be a 5 amp x 110V = 550W as opposed to what seems 350W for today's models... did they reduce the motor capacity on these?

I have a picture of a newer SJ that I used to own--it was bought brand new in June of 2008 IIRC. Anyway, the ETL conformance sticker lists it as 5.0A as well. I don't remember what these things actually draw, but I can say that Mazzer's motor ratings (350W for the Super Jolly) are for the output power of their motors, whereas the ETL sticker on the sides corresponds (via P=IV) to the input power of the motor. These motors aren't 100% efficient, so those numbers aren't going to be the same.

For more general info on old SJ vs. new, this might help you.
