Mazzer Mini E timer limit?

Postby docdvm on Sat Nov 07, 2009 10:35 am

I understand that the 2 screws that adjust the time of the grind are supposed to be simple to operate. Plus is a clockwise turn less is counterclockwise. Is there a limit to the time. For instance if I want to overdose a triple basket with the double espresso adjustment I reach a limit. I cannot get any more time. I can do 1 dose with the double followed by a single which gets me over 18 gms. but cannot get there with a single dosing.

Yes, there is a limit. I think I read about it on the Mazzer site, and I thought it was a rather low limit.

When I was evaluating the Mini E and wanted to test larger doses, I programmed the timer for half the amount and pressed the button twice. The adjustment is a simple "set and forget" potentiometer; my impression was that the mechanism was delicate. Given that Mazzer parts are rather expensive, I think it's unwise to fiddle with it a lot.
