Mazzer Mini Broken Spring?

Postby AndyinTexas on Sat May 23, 2009 9:56 pm

Suddenly, my several year old mazzer mini does not have any tension that "springs" the dose lever back into place (at the rear position) after pulling it forward to dose ground coffee.

Anyone know the problem and have advice on how to fix? I feel it must be a broken spring of some sort, but I really don't know.

Many thanks.

It's possible the doser handle return spring (click to see photo) has slipped. Remove the two Allen screws securing the bottom of the doser:

And then refer to Mazzer doser lever doesn't return as needed.

Worked great, although it took awhile to get the spring into the right position. Many thanks again.

Hello!
Thank you for this GREAT POST!!! :)
Of course it's an easy guess... my Mazzer Mini dosing lever stopped coming back today.
I knew where I would find advice.
But I looked into the the doser myself first and after initially trying to remove some screws and see if the doser comes off, gave up (wonderfully relaxed with the coffee smell and touch all on myself) and the curiosity got the better of me - here I am typing the thanks.
I think some coffee is now in order, despite the late at night.
Cheers,
Pawel
p.s.
I need to get a screwdriver for these two allen screws, so I'll finish tomorrow.

So, the spring appears broken on mine.
Funny thing I removed the broken spring and then set back the doser, and now the handle doesn't move the doser chamber hurdles. I will need to open it and set the broken part back, it seems.
Just the part of it that stems out like on the photo in here broke off the rest.

This must be the time for Mazzer doser springs to break. I just received a new spring from Espresso Parts last week. My spring broke in half and was an easy fix for $4.

Hahaha must be!
Of course now I already figured out what made the doser vanes stay silent despite the lever running - a small lever that is attached to the handle, inside the mechanism. It has three possible positions, when it is leftmost the doser works fine (but of course the lever doesn't return without the spring).
I'll have to ask for a spring in local Mazzer retailer next week.
