Agreed, all this talk of pressing out the motor for a rewind is crazy. Buy a VFD:

they all say 115 or 240 output??? but no 380????

It's 380V? Are you sure it's not 208V? 208V is more common.

As far as the cost of having it rewound... call around. The price will vary dramatically. Usually the old guys that have been doing it for 50 years are the cheapest. I've had 60amp alternators rewound to 100amp ones, and the price ranged from $25 to $50 depending on who I took it to.
