Mahlkonig K30 Clumping` - Page 2

Whatever clumps I have are soft and very easily broken-up and done away with . . . it would be different if, as Jeff said, they were big and dense, but I've found any clumping I have had to be light, fluffy, and insignificant . . .

I have noticed the clumping has reduced as the burrs are used. The clumps aren't nearly as obvious as they were when it was new. They do break apart with the lightest touch.

I noticed Mahlkoenig is promoting the latest changes in the K30 which they claim have addressed the clumping issue. They have also introduced a new grinder that is between the K30 and the Baratza Vario. Looks like a great new grinder.

I have studied a lot of grinders and can't find one that I like better than the K30. The Elektra Nino looks interesting but I thought it was very noisy.

The Nino is most certainly noisier than the K30, but the taste and ease is hard to beat. Haven't seen a single clump come out of my Nino, but saw plenty on the K30. The K30 clumps never bothered me other than when they sort of flew out of the PF when it was grinding...

Then again, the K30 is quieter than *any* grinder I've ever worked with.

I keep seeing posted references to the "taste" that a certain grinder has. I would like to experience this first hand at some point. I could see it if there was a dramatic difference in the quality of the machines but at the level of a Nino or a K30 I would have to taste the differences. An improvement in taste is what all of us should seek and if the Nino would deliver this element I would switch in a heartbeat.

Thanks for your input.
