What do they mean by this?
It is probably a CYA legal thing. Mazzer, and others no doubt, has a similar statement, but nobody has ever asked for my commercial credentials before selling me a grinder.

I've been impressed with it's output but still working on breaking the burrs in to give them a fair comparison. Early on, I'd say they're at least equivalent. I have more questions than answers at this point.
Now, one month later, what are your impressions about the new burrs so far? Any update?

Planning to buy an EG-1. Now or wait till the grinder will be shipping with the new burrs? Thank you.

SSP Grinding looks like they make a burrset that fits the Ditting 804 ( https://www.instagram.com/ssp_grinding/?hl=en ), and therefore the EG-1. Said they haven't made any magnetic screwless burrs yet, but think they could.

After seeing their performance against the Mahloking EK43 burrs on Socratic ( ) I'm pretty interested in trying out a pair. Probably more interested than I should be with how much I already like the stock ones

1 year later -- is static still an issue, and is grind distribution still messy?

I've had my EG-1 for a month and no static problems. Of course I live in south east Florida and have plenty of humidity!!

I spoke on it from the very beginning of the HG-1 review that relative humidity has little impact on static retention in these types of grinders. I live a few hundred yards from the beach and am surrounded by fog 3/4 of the year. The cone shape of the HG-1 acts as a perfect nest for grinds to pile up, whereas the EG-1 has a significantly different design that somewhat helps mitigate the problem.

Roast degree, coffee and type certainly seem to play a roll. But if living in an environment with higher than average RH prevented grinds retention, then people wouldn't be experiencing the problems shown in this photo I took during the review process.

Tom - did you measure RH on the day you took the photo?

I like to keep a Thermoworks Thermometer/RH stick (pretty cheap - for HVAC work) near the grinder for these cases.

(BTW - it isn't just the grinder - a Teraohm meter which measures up to 20 Teraohm, or 20,000 Gigaohm - becomes leaky at higher humidity levels and can only measure up to a few hundred of Gigaohms...)
Scraping away (slowly) at the tyranny of biases and dogma.

Wow, Tom that's alot of accumulation! I admit, I'm only using the grinder for about 2 weeks but I've never had that much retention! I'll have to take pictures. I only use fairly lightly roasted beans so maybe that helps? Maybe I'm just lucky?

I think that's the HG-1 cone. Looks nothing like any EG-1 part that I'm familiar with.

I can say static hasn't been a problem for me, but I RDT pretty much all the time. Even less static when I grind frozen too. It does seem to go up with higher RPM though, still not what I'd call bad at all, but noticeably more than slower speeds.

Oh, and quick question for Tom! How are you liking the beta screwless burrs? Just thinking, if I get a set of these SSP burrs to try out if I'd want tungsten carbide with screw holes, or screwless coated regular steel...

I did not. The RH stays within 10% of 80 year round.
