Yes, very nice video indeed. I cannot believe the amount of engineering dedicated to this grinder, it looks extremely cool. Maybe one day I will have one, but for now I think a more organic step from my Rancilio Rocky is going to be a Malhkonig K30. But a man can dream...

The grinder steps certainly sound quite precise at 5µm of burr distance considering an espresso particle is roughly around 300, but describing the adjustment in terms of the distribution or shot time, etc, would be a little bit more helpful to potential buyers...?

Ditting 805, Malkönig Tanzania, and Marco Uber use magnetic burr mounting. Pretty cool!kwantfm wrote:Doesn't the Ditting ("Fitting") KR805 have a similar way of mounting the burrs?

So I guess the $500 discount will be used to offset the cost of upgrading to the future burr set, though I personally don't see myself dropping the dollars to replace perfectly good burrs.

Regarding EG1 grinding time, this should vary depending on the variable RPM. Right? Or, correct me if I'm wrong.
So the 10 seconds they refer to in the video must be based on a specific RPM. Or, did I miss something else that Craig said about RPM and grinding time?

Yes the Ditting 805 & Mahlkonig Tanzania have used magnetic burrs for years. Nothing new.kwantfm wrote:Doesn't the Ditting ("Fitting") KR805 have a similar way of mounting the burrs?

Chris,
Thanks for the super informative post! Did the barista need to use RDT/WDT to get good results?

for single dosing, it's a must.
You're not always right, but when you're right, you're right, right?

Hi Chris.
Thanks for sharing. A question if I may:
You said a few times in the video the grinder uses a 5mm thread pitch. Is this actually correct? Or did you mean .5mm?
I'm also not sure how that would work with your stepped ring to also allow for .005mm adjustment. As a 1˙rotation would be about a .014mm gap change. Thus my question.
Cheers!

Hey Nick, just pointing out that Chris is not the person in the video. It's Craig from LW in the video talking about the EG1.
Chris is an HB member who went to the Toronto event and filmed Craig.
