Looking at used mazzer major and need a small favor - Page 2

Perfect guys that's all I needed. I would like to ask one thing though. The one I am considering is an Automatic, which means it has that sensor for the doser...How exactly would you stop this? I hear you have to place a jumper, but is this complicated? I have no electrical knowledge lmao.

The Major Automatic actually has two sensors in the doser, one on top to stop it when it gets full, and one in the bottom, which starts if after a certain number of doses.

I disconnected both. All the wires go to a terminal block mounted to the bottom of the Major.
You need to unscrew the heavy bottom plate, and you will see the terminal block. With a small flathead screwdriver, if you loosen the screws, you can remove the wires.

You need to trace the wires from the top sensor, and see where they go. They will end up at two screws next to each other. You can remove those wires, but you need to add a short wire that connects those two screws, and then tighten the screws. You can now remove the top sensor, and the Major will work normally.

If you remove the bottom sensor, tied to the doser, you don't have to jumper anything, you can just remove it.

I assume these apply to the Major as well: Mazzer Kony - removing doser microswitch instructions.

It's the same but if you want to eliminate the start function from the switch so you can use a timer or simply have an off/on switch you need to disconnect the lead & jumper the connections for the lower doser switch also.

Jumper the top sensor in all cases.
If you don't jumper the bottom sensor, the grinder works kinda like a car. 'Off' is off, you have to turn it to 'Start' for it to start, and it springs back to 'On' to run, until you turn it to 'Off' to stop it.
If you short that sensor with a jumper, 'Off' is off, 'On' makes it run, and turn it to 'Off' to stop it. 'Start' does nothing.

thanks guys, it's pretty straightforward i guess.

i would also like to know if anyone knows anything about the serial #s of Majors associated to specific years of production. For examples, 0115xxx would be associated with what year?

thanks
