I have an m47 and it gets pretty full with 30g of medium roast ground for Aeropress. I don't think you could push it much further than that. The hopper, if you can call it that, doesn't have much more room for more than about 40g of beans I would guess.
I should add that my grinder is only a couple weeks old, so pretty current.

Yes, i have to grind twice when I do a large batchbrew with the 47. Coarse grinding is fast so its hardly a thing but since I mostly use it for batchbrew I would purchase a larger catch cup if it would cone available.Bob_McBob wrote:Do the M38 and M47 still have a limited catch cup capacity? I seem to recall reading it was about 20g for one of them, even though hopper holds significantly more. I'd like to know how much of a medium to light roast each can hold in the current version.

I have the M47 for a few weeks. I have got less than a kilo through it. When the ground coffee is in the container its all fluffy and without any clumps. When i take it to the portafilter it gets a mess because of the clumping! As the days go by its getting less and less. I do not use RDT.The result is that I am getting a lot of chanelling! Is it possible that the more consistent grinding brings to surface the poor distributing my paperclip does??Or the burrs need more time to dial in?
Edit: Replaced my shower screen and it seems a lot better now.

Proud new owner of an M68. So far I love it and all the hype of the super high build quality, great alignment, etc are justified.
The gear reduction and vertical crank make it easy to grind, especially coming from a pharos. Grounds removal is also much easier and a joy to use. The new 2.0 pharos should address that, but didn't want to wait that long.
There is some static even with RDT, but I imagine with time and break in that will go away. I will say the handle arm seems to loosen a little bit from the thumbscrew with use, but doesn't slip from the groove. That's about the only thing that doesn't feel 100% rock solid.
All in all a great grinder, and surprisingly compact for a vertical crank (compared to Hg1)
Will report back with continued use, but anyone on the fence can take into account another very satisfied user.

Hey guys, I just got my M47 two days ago. I noticed a problem with mine though...When I try to go to the finest setting, instead of stopping at near zero, my grinder actually stops at 8.6. Anybody else having this problem? I've messaged Kinu and they told me to reinstall the burrs, which wasn't really helpful. I've noticed that when I screw in just the smaller inner burr's stick and the size control nut at the top, it stops at 8.6/8.4 instead of zero. Is this normal? It's kinda really annoying when your zero is not an actual zero...

I have not used the updated M47. The dial mechanism has been changed. At least on the former M47 (which I have in use) one could simply turn the grinder finer to zero, remove the dial nut and put in back on at the correct marking. I will ask Bob, he has the recent model....

I have most recent model. Sounds like the dial needs to be adjusted. This grinder is designed to not allow the burrs to touch when at 0. kind of a safety mechanism. There is no need to grind anywhere near the Zero point unless you are making turkish coffee or just playing around.

I've noticed this "problem" on my M47(latest version). After the first cleaning I noticed that no matter how tight i screwed it I couldnt get it to zero. It would sit either on 1 or 9. I let it to 1 and just counted +1 when returning to my original setting. No difference at all.Next time I cleaned it it came exactly to 0.Nothing to worry about.
Since we brought up this topic again, let me make another question. I havent yet managed to get an extraction without any chanelling. I even quit WDT since it was just making things worst. I pulled a shot with my almost 3 year old Lelit grinder,no WDT, no levelling or anything and it was pure perfection to look at. What am I doing wrong?
