It is meant to be a promise to those who care about the numbers that the grinder is capable of producing a high TDS (Total Dissolved Solids) and ultimately Extraction Yield. However, Denis also of course tastes the shots produced by using the grinder and subjectively insures that the espresso is very good.
The numbers simply put are the amount of coffee "stuff" that makes it into the water vs the amount of water that is in the shot.
And folks should be impressed by these quite high results for a conical burr set. Numbers like these have mostly been reserved for big flats. I think his Flat Monolith thread has plenty of cases where folks are finding 22% easily.

Got mine today; can't wait to try in morning! Looks & feels very nice & solid.
In addition to a bag of Caffe Luso, it came with a nice "OCD" style distributor and a funnel. Too bad they are both 58mm and not too useful for my 53mm La Spaziale...
Other observations: have to take off bottom to remove front plate and adjust portafilter arms height and separation. Kind of a pain, but something you only should need to do once. Inside of the bottom is as well-finished as the outside. Impressive attention to detail.
Also, I found that the "wings" on my portafilter holder are a bit thicker than the slots on the portafilter holder arms, making it a bit fussy to get inserted easily. I'm sure I'll figure out a smooth motion pretty quickly...

Eventually you will end up with a lever.

With the supplied funnel, portafilter forks moved to the absolute top position, and lifting the end of the portafilter handle up (to tip the funnel forward) while grinding, the problem is solved for me. No stray coffee grounds. This is the relationship between funnel edge and opening of the exit chute using a LM portafilter handle:mike guy wrote:I am seeing this as well, grinds spray onto the holder. I also had the OE funnel already and switched to using that instead of the dosing cylinder. Using it in addition to seems like a good idea to get the height, but not sure I want two devices when one might do. I am going to also move the portafilter holder up and see if that fixes the problem and just use the OE.

FWIW/FYI just in case it wasn't previously posted: Denis' recommendation for a catch cup. I'm using it on my Flat and it works great. One of the less expensive things I've ever purchased for my all things espresso game

Denis custom-made the tamper for me; said it wasn't possible for the distributor as he buys those in lots of 200 and would never be able to sell that many in 53mm. Funnel is from Orphan.
Eventually you will end up with a lever.
