I talked to him on the phone other day and he said the change is due to supply problems. He tested before with 75mm Tn burrs and 80mm steel burrs and decided to go with 80mm steel burrs due to high price of 75mm Tn burr which go for $440... With supply problems for 80mm burrs he switched to more expensive 75mm Tn burrs and kept the price the same.

Denis just posted an impressive 22% EY on Heart Stereo Blend using this grinder with the 75mm titanium burrs.

Was it the 22% EY that pushed you over the edge? 8)

No, it was just the fact that it appears to be a high quality , single dose, big flat that uses tried and true burrs.

I know myself and I might make a few modifications after using it for a while but it would be just cosmetic stuff, and maybe a way to hold a basket or PF under the spout for dosing directly into the PF. That would be something I would try and work out but I am sure Denis has put a lot of time into using and trying to improve his design so I suspect my tinkering with it is just a busy work exercise for me. :D

As to the portafilter holder, when I ordered my Monolith Flat a couple of weeks ago, Denis told me he plans to include one on the Flat model.

Here is what the fork will look like on the FLAT grinder. The portafilter lock in tabs will fit in the grooves making it stable enough to be hands free. Height adjustment can be seen in the rear of the fork.
