How to remove doser section from Rossi RR45

Postby ajahearn on Thu Sep 29, 2011 6:24 pm

I purchased a used Rossi RR45 grinder. The pictures and diagrams I find on-line all look identical to mine, with a few minor differences. My switch is not a lighted rocker style but rather a metal toggle style. The bean hopper does not have the internal attachment I see in some pictures.

But the one critical difference appears to be in how the doser is attached to the main housing. In all the diagrams and pictures I find, the doser is held on by a hex head screw that is screwed in below the doser star. In my case the screw is a flat head screw and won't budge. Anyone have any suggestion on how I can get it off? I could try drilling it out but I really would rather not. I obviously can't use any kind of liquid screw loosener either.

Thanks in advance.

Mine has the flathead too.
It is essential that you have the properly fitting screwdriver so you don't munge up the slot. Use a tooth pick or dental pick to clean out the slot so you get a solid hold with the screwdriver. Take it easy.

Unfortunately I tried the largest slotted screw driver sold by Craftsmen (3/8") and all I got was it started to strip. It's going to have to stay. Thanks anyways though.
