Help identifying a Kym grinder

Postby ajbail81 on Mon Aug 23, 2010 11:42 am

I picked up this apparently old KyM coffee grinder from a local seller and was wondering if anyone new how to date or get descriptions for them it has a model number on the bottom 9481 and a number on the drawer 1255 but I cant find anything on google about it.

I did buy it for my morning fix as my leinbrock ideal was a bit big but it seems as if its never been used and I'm curious now if its a fake, restored, remake or original. If its original it may be better off in the hands of a collector rather than my ham fists.

I'd guess it's original - I've seen lots of similar models on ebay.uk over the years. No reason to suspect a fake. Worth maybe 25 pounds to a collector, if it grinds well for espresso.

I picked this one up in town, years ago, at an "antique" store during another power outage. I had gotten frustrated with multiple mornings without coffee.

Thanks guys I guess I should just be grateful I stumbled upon an seemingly unused vintage grinder in great condition and not be quite so cynical about it's history.

It grinds my beans very quietly and very fine just right for those fragile morning espressos.

Thanks for the feedback, I'll keep an eye ebay to see if any similar ones po pup.

It is the most typical KyM design, one of the smaller models I think. Really they do very well for espresso.
