One of the coffee shops I regularly go to has a Robur. I don't think the owner will mind if I do a little comparison. I have to play around with it first, though. I haven't done too much yet. I don't want to get my hopes up. If you look at that picture again, you'll see the coffee falls mostly from one side before the other, so alignment may be an issue. I don't know. Mr Ye said I could take it apart if I want, but I won't try that for a while.

I've only tried grinding for two shots. One was too fine, the other too coarse. I'll see if I can make some time this weekend to play with it some more.

I think the grind is too uneven for good espresso, and it's pretty hard to crank. He's put most of his design effort into the collar to hold the shaft. I don't know if it's burr wobble or misalignment. Oh, well. Too bad.

It sure looked like a winner in the photo...

Eric,
Looks like a great find - solid and clean. Now is that tasty-looking shot a sign of what it can do?

It is the first shot made using the grinder - today I used some beans roasted last week and got decent results.
17g, 50 turns in around 20 seconds...
Pulled a bit fast but the grinder can go finer than the current setting
The crema looks nice this afternoon

I picked up a never used Zassenhaus knee mill at the flee market for $15. Guy thought it was some kind of spice grinder. Now I have my travel grinder, combine that with a press pot or drip cone and you have a nice on the go setup. Solves my grinding when the power is out problem as well.

Lucky man you are Dave. I just don't have the patience for flee markets and thrift stores, but I still love to hear of finds like yours. Enjoy, and please let us have a peak at your virgin Zass.
