Mine was packed with the hopper, I think. Maybe your polished model is a slightly older revision? I seem to recall reading at least one post mentioning a K10 WBC coming with a spare faceplate.

Hmm, maybe I'll check my box again. Did you get the large or small hopper? Mine has a manufacture date of May 2008......when was yours made?

May 9, 2008 manufacture date. I got both hoppers. I asked them to pack the mini hopper inside the regular hopper, which comes in its own box inside the main shipping box. The spare faceplate was with the hopper.

Just pulled my very first shot. Looks like I had it dialed in just right (just under 30). I was mesmerised by how perfectly it poured, even with poor preparation  The taste is very noticeably different from shots I pulled using my M4 last night. I am going to like this grinder! I will have to think about adding a timer of some sort, because it grinds so fast, it's difficult to time stopping the motor while you're thwacking to distribute.

Does the nut on your upper burr spin like in the youtube video I posted? I am not sure if it's just the fastener that's not concentric, or the shaft itself.

I never checked that. It seems to grind and pull shots just fine so I don't really want to look for problems  :D

Bob,
From your video it looks more like just the fastener is not concentric. The round area right below the nut seems to run true. JMO.
I'll look forward to hearing more about how you like your new (beautiful) grinder. Keep posting>

That's not actually my video, it just looks similar to mine. On my grinder, the washer is definitely not centred, and the nut is a little wobbly. Considering how many people have reported this behaviour with the K10, I'm sure they all look like this when they run.

FWIW, I contacted the youtube user, and he reported that the motor shaft on his grinder was misaligned, and had been damaged in shipping.

I managed to blow through 1-1/2 lbs of coffee in two days of owning the K10, and I wasn't able to roast any more until Sunday, so it's sitting idle until Wednesday or Thursday :x :x

I just tried out a two day old SM blend that would have been ridiculously difficult to use with my M4. I weighed to the nearest half gram on my scale (not fussing to 0.1g), did very minimal leveling (knock PF or slightly level mound with my finger), tamped with my usual N-E-W-S technique, and pulled six shots in a row that were exactly the same. Pretty much unheard of before, especially with such fresh coffee.

I was a little annoyed to pull a couple of inexplicably bad shots -- 15-20 seconds, kind of bitter, one had a constant spritzer -- until I realized it was the last two shots of beans left in the hopper. I've read that popcorning screws up the last couple of shots, and it was very noticeable. I loaded up a new pound of coffee and was back to practically perfect pulls. One tiny grind adjustment, and they were essentially perfect.

This was the first grind adjustment I've made since receiving the grinder a week ago. It's absolutely nuts thinking back to my M4, where I would be adjusting the grind from shot to shot, session to session, day to day.
