It could. I have an electrician here right now. My kitchen circuit is fine. With the electrician watching, when not under load the Doge operated within its rating. But it stalled on hard beans, and if I had it set fine it stalled on beans roasted into second crack. The electrician said that's not a problem with the motor but may be an issue with capacitance.

Glad I was able to provide you with some pictures of the capacitors in my Dogé, Gary. I only regret not seeing your plea several weeks sooner.

I'm running your hopper test with a bag of Stereo stereo blend (1 lb., 11/22) I had grabbed and see no issues with start-up stalling as I expected.

The latest iteration of this seasonal blend from Heart is miles apart from the one I tried only last month (11/01). It's cocoa alright and seems to require smaller dosing (16.5 18.5 gr vs. 18-19 before in 20 gr VST). Not really my preferred style, I'm all too happy to sacrifice a few (ok, 5) sink shots if it helps get your grinder fixed.

Thanks, Mark.

Here are the photos you sent me of the two capacitors in your Doge, which doesn't stall when beans are in the hopper.

So Gary has confirmed that the problem is not related to his wiring, and his Doge has a single capacitor. Mark has a Doge with 2 capacitors that works fine with a hopper. My Doge appears to be a very early-manufactured model (#0004), if I'm reading the label shown in one of my old posts correctly:

Fiorenzato Doge Conico jamming after switch from single dosing to hopper

I finally looked inside my grinder, and confirmed that it has only one capacitor (same as Gary's):

So where does this leave us on a solution?

I've provided this information to 1st-Line and they are again following up with Fiorenzato to find out where to attach the other capacitor. If Fiorenzato doesn't respond perhaps Mark can show us where/how his capacitors are wired. With that info I could take mine to my motor shop and have them connect it correctly and then I would post my tests with a hopper attached.

I will provide photos of the wiring and describe what's going on underneath the grinder since you need that information. Once my hopper runs through the Stereo blend that will be easy to do despite its weight (45 lbs?). About 2 days is my guess.

OBTW, I contacted 1st-Line this morning to ask about a replacement Konico 73mm burr-set in the event one is ever needed. They suggested I contact Fiorenzato directly since their supplier cannot get this part (or, their F71 EK). I'm not surprised as they do not have a big presence here like they do in Australia.

1st-Line sent me a set of burrs to test my grinder. Once I determined the problem wasn't the burrs they are sitting here new. If these burrs fit your grinder I will send them to you as a thank you. Just send me your address.

That's totally unnecessary, drgary, yet I truly appreciate the gesture... PM^d

I suppose I can come out of lurking and join the conversation. My Conico is number #0005 (or #0006, I can't remember right now and it's not with me) and I too have observed the exact same problems mentioned here. It's used primarily for single-dosing so the jamming has been a non-issue, but I would also like to have it fixed if the need ever arises.

My technical knowledge, especially of these things, is limited, but I would be happy to share in any way I can. Thanks to those who have already made this issue known and left valuable information here.
