Bluecold, are you still happy with your MC?

I'm kinda wishing it had a timer. And zero retention. Brushing and weighing is a pain in the ass. I'm pretty happy with the espresso i can pull though.
I've got some mods thought out but i haven't got time for those.

I just made my own timer, cost me about 25 euro, box included. Are you any good with electronics?

The timer bit isn't the problem. It's the 20+ grams that the Faema contains in the chute. 25E sounds good, but I'm not sure if it's worth the hassle over this

That is a great timer, I considered it. But most money goes into the surrounding hardware, a nice box, wire, switches, plugs, and still a lot of work.

@BlueCold , How hard/easy it is too get parts for Faema MC, especially the burrs?
Right now, I'm thinking to get the same grinder, but a little hesitated.
Any retailer you could recommend ?
Thanks

Spareparts availability is pretty good.

Espressoparts.co.uk has MC spareparts

Espressomaschinendoctor.de has MC spares

Also, Eunasa has spareparts

I have no experience with spareparts suppliers though.

Thanks a bunch Roeland, your info are very helpful.
BTW in your experience where the Faema MC stand in terms of taste profile?
Could it be closer to Mazzer Kony or to Robur or Compak K10?

I am not lucky enough to have those grinders at my disposal. However, it has standard fare 49mm* conical burrs and turns at ~400rpm. Just like the Mazzer Robur, Elektra Nino, Fiorenzato Doge Conico, Rossi MC and others. The K10 rotates just a bit slower.

*49mm is the outer diameter of the inner burr. I believe it is a more accurate representation of the size.

Doserless!
Vinyl records (only scratched up worthless records were used) are pretty soft at 100C. I've had to fashion a grid from pieces of copper wire to slow down the grounds to keep them from sticking to the funnel, mazzer style. Retention is pretty low for a large conical, about 5 gram all in all since the grind tunnel is less than a cm long.

The mod is reversible (well.. the records won't be played ever again), so I'll just use this for a month and see if I like the ease of use so far. I also think I've got the ugliest grinder ever.
