Elektra Nino Grinder - Page 41

Postby Theodore on Wed Feb 03, 2010 5:37 am

I have noticed a variation in quantity vs time with the Nino, because with the same Square mile roaster winter blend,I had to grind for 3.5sec a couple of months before, and now I have to grind for 1sec more.
Espresso uber alles.

I've just got back from London and picked up a Square Mile espresso blend they make for Flat White in Soho. It'll be interesting to see how it fares on my machine in terms of consistency.

Hi Chris,

I use their own parameters as a staring point :

QUOTE " We would recommend the following brew recipe as a starting point:

Dose: 20-21g
Brew Temperature: 200°F/93.5°C
Brew Time: 25-28s
Total Volume: approx. 50ml
Brew Ratio: 60% - approx 30-35g of liquid

This was based on using a Synesso Hydra with a flat line temperature profile. " END QUOTE

This is for their Winter Espresso.

Regards
Eric

Thats a good idea, never thought to look on the web! (there was nothing on the packet).

Anyhow as an update to the 'pulse' function refit/reprogram... seems a bit dead in the water. Elektra emailed me back saying they were busy with their 'new' machine (referenced earlier) and that it was on the back burner. I'll wait another couple of months and ask again, but it sounded a bit of a fob off to be honest, which is rather disappointing given the initial favourable response.

Anyhow, back to waiting. In NZ now, so on my little cheapo grinder. Been looking for a second hand Mazzer or something down here but they get snapped up pretty fast so haven't had much luck.

Cheers, Chris

While I wouldn't expect someone using this grinder at home to be anywhere near changing the burrs, does anyone know if they're Elektra proprietary or off-the-shelf parts? My best guess would be a Macap M7 burrset; compare Lundgaard's photos to these M7 burrs and consider Elektra's other grinders are rebadged Macaps...

I think you're probably right those are a likely best fit. I am thinking the Compak K10's may work too, but that's again probably ideal. In a pinch, I can confirm that the Robur's bottom burr will definitely work, though obviously they cut the exterior burr out of a thicker (71 mm) chunk of steel, so that's not happening.

Interesting, the Compak burrs does look pretty much identical! Seems to have the same dimensions but a lower price...

I have both the Nino and a La San Marco FK Conical.
Eventhough they are spec'd 1mm differently, fitting the lower burr of a spare LSM set to the upper burr of the Nino, they fit perfectly. Also the cut of the burr surfaces looks the same.
From holding them next to each other they appear interchangeable.
If I get around this weekend I check if the mounting holes are the same too (and maybe swap them out).
