At the Minneapolis SCAA Exhibition I stopped by the Mazzer booth the say hello and see what was new. I was looking over the new line of doserless grinders and the gentleman working the booth stepped over to say hello and ask if he could be of assistance. I wish you could have seen his reaction when I told him that I had a Kony at home. He spoke with an accent (Italian I believe) and he had to ask, "For use in the home?" to be sure he understood what I had said. It was a Kodak Moment (for those of you who remember film).

Should have asked him if they were going to make anything larger, your 220 3phase is just not quite fast enough so you relegating it to decaf work and watched his jaw drop.

Yeah, I know what you mean. I thought that the Elektra would look way better in the flesh ... errr ... metal ... err ... plastic? I thought it was pretty similar to a Macap in that regard; unsurprising - I think that it's made by Macap; isn't it?

Very interested to hear how you think it compares with the Robur. I haven't gotten to fiddle with a Robur-E yet.

I agree. After a few months, I have to say that my super jolly was probably better than the Kony that I have at the moment ... at least it was faster! Maybe it's a dodgy Kony. The various Roburs that I have played around with have been excellent, but the odd thing is that they seem to vary a bit. Some sweep cleaner than the others, some adjust more stiffly and some dose more directly. They all seem to make getting a decent shot pretty easy, though.

Hi.
Finally, is it a conclusion, about what grinder, should somebody, crazy enough,as we usually are here, between the Robur,(especially the 3phase one), and the Nino?
PS1.About the dimensions of them. What is the height of both grinders, without the hopper,as I have to use any grinder, even my Mini, without one, because I have not enough place?
PS2. Is the Nino single phase, or three phase?
Espresso uber alles.

Theodore:

I don't think the Nino has seen much use in the US market yet, although as mentioned above it now appears on the 1st Line site.

OK +/- a few mm: my Robur measures 470 mm tall without the hopper. Personally I wouldn't use it without the hopper though. First, you'll have to overcome the tab collar safety default. (a fairly easy thing to do if you are so inclined) My Kony, Major and now this Robur all (IMO) produce a superior grind when there is uniform pressure produced by a modest level of beans in the hopper during grinding.

Pardon me while I drift off topic with Theodore for a minute... FWIW, I leave the black plastic collar in place, remove the tall "stock" hopper and use a short Mini hopper on all of the aforementioned grinders. There are inexpensive black rubber plumbing gaskets available at any hardware store that provide a perfect fit short hopper to ID collar diameter. So it's pretty easy to "tame" the height of a Kony/Major/Robur (yes, I'm a Mazzer guy...)

I then keep two or three days worth of beans in the hopper at any given time with consistently perfect grind results. If you're interested, my Robur "wearing" a short mini hopper has a height of 660 mm (hopper lid included).

There are HB'ers here who dose one shot at a time worth of beans in to their grinders without using a hopper, so where there is a will...

My $0.02. OK, back to the Nino!
