For the love of God....
Nobody is making burrs from titanium. Nobody. It is "x" specification of tool steel with a surface treatment (TiN, in this case). That's it. The surface treatment doesn't change the geometry of the burr and it isn't magic. In this case it increases surface hardness to prevent wear. It may have a lubricity effect, but there is currently nearly zero evidence this has any measurable effect on grinding coffee. Zero. Zilch. None. There is plenty of speculation, fantasy, and anecdotal evidence however, so grasp onto that if you must.
Wonder why burrs seem to be a mystery to so many people? Because nobody puts in the effort understand things as simple as the base manufacturing material.

Actually the Titanium coating never crossed my mind on this grinder
But what I see is a nice clean design with some nice sturdy features including the SS worm drive etc & price wise selling for roughly 1685 AUD or $1260 USD in Australia now meaning it will likely be even less in the US
But will be interested to see more what folks using them think

Good looking grinder. It grinds way faster than my super jolly E.

Just when you think a grinder couldn't be any more uninteresting.. But taking into account that English is their second language and translating technical German into English is not easy, It seems like it is fast, but it is just a sales promo. We shall see. I would think that the TiN coating would prolong the life of the burrs and nothing else. I think that if it comes to the US market for around $1000 it could be an interesting choice.

Looks like a nice grinder. For my money if you want a great German grinder, it's hard to beat the Mahlkonig K30 Vario that is easier to program, seems quieter and easier to adjust.

I am actually just resigned to buying a EK43 some time in August
Hopefully the Barista version will be out but if not no problem
Buying the EK because later will transfer it to a commercial setting anyway & it can do pour over duty
Have actually considered a EKK43 with coffee burrs one side & Turkish burrs on the other
A friend of mine is running this EKK set & loves it also has twin Peaks
Hopefully the Barista version will be out but if not no problem

Just wait for the barista...it will be a game changer, and blow everything away in the sub $1500 single dose market.mania wrote:I am actually just resigned to buying a EK43 some time in August

You know that would be a great price but....
They cannot keep the EK43 in stock at $2464
The barista with the exception of the shorter stand is all that ++ a few things
So I would be very surprised to see it priced at sub $1500
Would be great to be wrong but if the motor & burr is the same I just don't see them dropping $1000
& adding variable speed, portafilter holder & more
But I would love it to be true
