You could always move the 902 into the corner where you've got the SJ. She'll hardly even notice it's there.

the problem in this corner is that i wouldn't be able to open the lid anymore.

also, being left-handed, i need my espresso grinder on the left side of my machine...

...and then suddenly...NEW BURRS!!!

after waiting for nearly 3 month my new burrs finally arrived.
It's not the Webshop who is to blame, but Ditting itself.
The Burrs were out of stock and Ditting was just able to supply new burrs to the distributor by the end of February.

another surprise:
the new burr set has 2-hole-pattern (instead of a 4-hole-pattern as the old burrs).
also shape and geometry is different.

after a bit of research i found this on coffeegeek:
http://coffeegeek.com/forums/coffee/machines/428927

my old burrs were looking like the right ones on the picture, the new ones like the machined burrs on the left.

Seems Ditting also replaced the pressed burr sets with machined burrs not only for the KR804, but for the other models as well.
Quite a nice surprise.

yesterday I ran some 5 kg of old coffee through the grinder to season the burrs at least a bit.
Really fast, really even grind, nearly no fines.

Taste with brewed coffee (Hario V60 drip) is way better than with any espresso grinder i tried (even with sifting the grounds). I have yet to test it with my vac-pot.

retention is quite low. I got 30.7g of ground coffee from 31.0g of beans out of it.

cheers
Georg

Basically the same burrs I put in my Bunn G3 except mine are 80mm. Supposedly it takes several hundred pounds to fully season them but after running about 20lbs through them there was a definite improvement.

She thinks the Ditting is big...? Ugly...?
I suggest she needs a white cane and a pair of dark glasses. Should be easy to get a GSD for her there.

Hey Georg, Here is the final product of my rebuild. I powder coated the sides white and found a pair of Ditting badges at a local roastery that was in a pile of scrap parts so I put it on in stead of the bizerba one. I am waiting for my blades to arrive, my local manufacture only had the cast ones so they are ordering the new ones specially for me....cant wait.

This puppy is eager to grind some beans:)

I replaced the felt ring around the bottom burr plate, what a mission to get it back in. It just fits in without it so the extra width from the felt ring made it near impossible.

Some of the felt got caught outside the groove which caused the plate to not move at all. I had to use a ratchet spanner to get it to spin, the motor just hummed but nothing turned. I used a small metal shim to stuff the felt that was stuck back down into the groove now it works like a charm.

Anyways, hope you are still enjoying yours

hey craig,

the white side panels look awesome and i am quite envious of your ditting badges.
i hope your burrs will ship faster than mine did.

anyways, i'm still enjoying my monster a lot. my brew coffee consumption increased a lot with it.
taste is amazing an the handling (and grinding speed) is really convenient.

cheers
George

p.s. if i might ask: what did you end up paying for the machined burrs?

Hi, I am still waiting for them, the company I ordered it from in Cape Town orders it from them and I think they get a good price. I am suspecting to pay R3500 which is about 500$ i guess. They should get here in 2 or so weeks.
