Compak K10 without WBC signage?

Postby godshot on Sat Jan 22, 2011 12:05 am

I ordered a Compak K10 WBC from 1st-Line, and it arrived today. It doesn't appear to be the WBC model that I ordered. The model sticker on the back says "68B802 M BLACK 10" and "PRO BARISTA" It looks pretty much like the WBC, but it doesn't have the WBC signage. Instead, it has a sticker on the doser that says "Compak Coffee Grinder" and "Professional Barista" and it has a partial silhouette outline of a tamper. There is a sticker on the bottom right side of the grinder body that is oval and says "Espresso Italiano".

On the 1st-Line web site, the pictures of the Compak K10 WBC show a grinder that has different fonts and colors on the doser signage, with the WBC printed below a more complete multi-colored silhouette of a tamper. On the right side of the grinder body is a WBC logo. It also looks like the grinder body has a ridge down the side that the grinder I was sent lacks. The body on mine is smooth glossy black.

I'm fairly certain this is not the "K10 Conic" model because that one has a quite differently shaped doser cover and a built-in tamper.

Has anyone seen this model that I was sent? How does it differ from a WBC?ImageImageImageImage

The K10 WBC is now called the Pro Barista because Compak's WBC tie-in sponsorship deal ended. It's the same grinder with a different label.

So there's no difference in specs or functionality? The advertised wattage on the 1st-Line site is 700 watts. The label on mine says 680W370W, which seems like two wattage numbers.

Compak still shows the WBC on their website. I know 1st-line does not stock any of Compak's products. They call Compak, pay and have them drop ship with every order. Could have been a miscommunication. Give 1st-Line a call. <Ignore all of this> I saw the platinum version not the WBC.

That is the same rating that's listed on my WBC's decal.

Where, please? Chris/Bob is correct. Compak stopped using the "WBC" label because their sponsorship expired.

(I'm the WBC's lawyer).

Oh, you are right. It is just the platinum version with the built in tamper. Who has the current grinder sponsorship for WBC now?

They just Photoshopped in a new logo on their site when the WBC branding was removed. It's the same grinder.

I'm glad to hear that the grinder I was sent has the same specs as the WBC. However, what is shown on the 1st-Line web site and what is listed on my invoice is Compak K10 WBC. And yes, it was a drop-ship from the Compak America.

See this page:
http://www.1st-line.com/machines/home_m.../index.htm
and this:
http://www.1st-line.com/machines/home_m...10_WBC.htm

and here is a copy of that portion of my invoice:

So I was expecting the grinder to have the WBC signage.
