Im moving in the direction of a Compak K3

I cant find any ref's to mods or removal of the burrs for occasional 'deep' cleaning

whats been the experience of Compak owners?

The upper burr mount uses the same principle as the Mazzer's -- it's threaded, and screws in against a spring loading. The spring isn't as strong, and the burr turns more easily. There is a thumbscrew to tighten that locks the grind setting. The system is the same for all Compak grinders. It's relatively easy to clean.
