Burrs on Mazzer Mini E the same on Model A and Model B?

Postby jamiedolan on Sun Dec 19, 2010 3:57 pm

Are the burrs the same on both of the Mazzer Mini E grinders?

I was looking for a backup set and found them listed as:

"Grinding Burrs for Mini Elettronico mod. B"

I would assume that the burrs would be the same for Mod A and Mod B, but wanted to double check since they listed the burrs as being for mod B.

I have the type A.

Thanks,

Jamie

Yes. See Difference between Mazzer Mini E burrs and Super Jolly burrs? for related discussion.

SJ burrs in a Mini E are great!. The motor would be too light for these burrs, but for home-use there is no problem. I put them in my brothers' Mini E 1,5 years ago. Never had a problem. But these burrs do grind much faster. The ground coffee comes out so fast that it won't be stopped by the anti-static grid.

Is there a sacrifice in quality by doing this?

The sacrifice would be for the motor being not powerful enough. But for home-use the power of the motor is no problem. Taste-wise the SJ burrs are better. Because of the faster grinding, less heat is added to the coffee. The ground coffee is more fluffy and it won't clog behind the anti-static grid because it comes out much faster. The SJ burrs make the Mini E a Mini SJ!

No.

I have owned a Mazzer Mini E since November 05, it still has the original burrs, and works just fine on four drinks a day.

The SJ burrs and Mini E burrs are different as previously pictured. Will the SJ burrs "work" in a mini - obviously, yes. Will you be the one user to have an unfortunate and co$tly premature death of the mini's electronics and/or motor because of burr swapping? The potential benefits (if any, other than production quantity) are nil.

Yes, you will lose your warranty. But the SJ burrs do grind much faster. And I think the coffee tastes better. I have not hear anyone yet who blew the motor with these burrs. If you want to be safe, order the original (189D).

What do you think the reason for this would be, less heat due to the faster grind?

Thanks
