Baratza Vario-W DOA??

Postby jldc on Sun Dec 25, 2011 1:04 pm

I just opened my Christmas presents (Vario-W and Mini Vivaldi from Chris Coffee). The Vivaldi is beautiful and steams milk much better than my previous (pod) machine. However the Vario seems to be dead on arrival. I can't seem to get the motor to come on. The box appeared to have been opened previously and there was no instruction manual. I downloaded the manual, so no problem there.

The tare function, the scale, and all the other functions seem to work. The light by the start button comes on when you press it, but not the motor. Am I brain-dead and missing something obvious?

Bummed out and considering a Mazzer Mini instead.

Make sure that you hopper is on tight. There is a micro switch there that will not allow grinder to run if hopper is not in place correctly.

Eureka! I am brain-dead (but that hopper has to be on tight-tight).

Thanks

No, you are definitely not brain dead. Many have had the exact same issue.

[Thread Jack] Amen to that. I'm new to brewing good coffee at home, but I've been brewing first class beer for several years. [/Thread Jack]
