My first sette had a serial no starting with 16, unpacked it, plugged it, but the display didnt show any numbers, and the grinding didnt start.
The replacement was serial no starting with 17. i was very happy but after 4 weeks all of a sudden the motor didnt start, the timer was running, though.
Both 230Volts 270 without W models...

Nice idea, I filled it out twice for my 2 faulty units. But only after filling out the form I could see the results. Can you post a link so people can see the results without filling out the form?

A big string of recent posts over in the "Sette End Users" thread is folks talking about the their Settes that stop running after anywhere from a week to a month, and how this and that (removing and replacing the the burr, or using Blu Tack on the feet), helps a little and then it dies again and they call Baratza to get a replacement sent out.

Well... Some of comments posted got me to wondering if most or all of those Settes that mysteriously stop running are the -W version? Has anyone with the regular, non-weighing Sette also had the problem where it just stops working, even though the display still powers up?

I ask because mysterious, early death bothers me, even though I have categorical trust in Baratza (my early Vario from 2009 has been 100% reliable and excellent). AND, because I have ZERO interest in the -W version, I am hopeful that the regular version I am interested in is free from the "early death syndrome" that seems to be afflicting primarily the -W version.

Hey pcrussell, can you please edit your original post to add a link to this form to collect data. I tried to create a post but it was deleted by a moderator. Trying to get visibility for the form inside topics now.

Er, I merged your post from the thread "Did your Baratza Sette die? Let's gather data!" because it overlaps with this existing one. It's fine by me if pcrussell wants to modify his OP as you suggest. There's no need for concurrent threads discussing essentially the same topic.

FYI: If you're unhappy with a moderator's decision, you are welcome to take your concerns directly to the site owner. If you are unhappy with the site owner's decision , you are welcome to start a discussion in the Suggestion Box. Thanks.

I'd like to add that the new replacement I got when my 16xxx 270W died is much better. I don't know why or how, and I could just be crazy, but it sounds quieter or has a lower pitch. It just sounds better. It does feel to grind a tad slower, but maybe that's because of a different motor.

Anyway, my shots have improved. Before mine broke I was getting uneven extractions from the bottomless with it pouring out from one side off-center. Using the same technique I got the new one setup and immediately I was back to even centered extractions and no channeling. Same bean and technique to level and tamp, but better extractions. I'm a happy camper.

May I ask what serial number your new Sette starts with? 120 or 230volts?

It starts with 17 and is 120v. Compared to my first, it has more branding from Acaia and Etzinger and makes more beeps and boops. It feels more complete. I've had to add a shim totaling 2 now as it arrived with 1 installed. The inner burr screw was tight as heck because of some blue loctite on the threads.
