I am finally getting ready to purchase the Sette 270W and wanted to know if anyone had recommendations for where to purchase. My local shops do not carry the grinder. I saw that Baratza carries it on Amazon, which I would assume moves enough product to keep the latest in stock.

Any other places that are recommended?

Yes, but you can email them. They'll get back to you during the week. This is the easiest/best way.

I had the same problem as you, and my replacement grinder is coming in this Monday!

Also, my machine recently stopped grinding fine for espresso. Even at 1E I get around 5g/second. My 24 second pulls with ~18g of grind on a Breville 920XL results in 80g of very diluted coffee... After reading through the forums, it seems my macro adjustment ring is faulty as it skips numbers.
Same thing happened to my sette. Problem solved after I installed one shim. Baratza has an excellent video instruction on how to do the installation.

Hi,
i have my sette 270 for 1 month now. I had to install 1 shim out of the box cause i was unable to get fine enough for espresso. Now after 1 month i had to install 2nd shim and now i'm able to get fine enough at 7 macro setting. So i'm a little worried. After a very short time i have 2 shims at once so it will be ok for long years? or something is already wrong out of the box ? if 1 shim gives you 5 macro settings and i have 2 shims installed but i'm on 7 macro setting .

I'm worried about the burrs life and even sette's durability. Maybe faulty burr?

I think this is normal. I've been making pourover coffee for the past two months until my espresso machine arrived last friday. Had to install one shim in order to make espresso. Now I'm at setting 3D out of 1 (finest) to 31 (coarsest) so expecting I'll have to install the 2nd shim in the near future. The Sette's manual states that installing one shim is equivalent to going 6 steps up in coarsenes. So that would bring me to setting 9 with a second shim and I've just started making Espresso last weekend.

Ordered the coarse burr for when I would like to make filter now since I noticed he burr holder exchanges easily but removing/installing the shims is a lot more work.

The DC motor's commutator likely broke a contact so there are one or more dead spots (poles) in the motor. Customer support will replace the motor and gearbox assembly which will solve the issue. Apparently, it's a known motor supplier issue which has been fixed.

Hi, what an excitement,
i just got my Sette 270 today:-)
Straight out the box it is not working, great.
The display is lit up but its not showing any digits, pressing of any of the flimsy buttons does not do anything, nice!
That is really building up a lot of confidence , seems to be an awesome piece of engineering art!

Going to send it back tomorrow and now i am unsure if i should get a different grinder?

^ A local friend of mine recently purchased a Sette and experienced the same display issue along with an erratic power issue when grinding. He eventually, within a couple days of playing around with it, resolved the display issue, either by repeated plugging/unplugging or resetting (sorry I don't know what he actually did to resolve).

Then, while trying to resolve inconsistent grind weight, I discovered the rubber pad interfered with the plastic catch bin; removed it and all has been fine since.
