What did you have to set your offset to? What was it hitting before you started messing with the offset? Did you have to install the shim or no shim?

I'm noticing hitting 20.5 - 20.7 lately when dosing for 19.8. It's pretty consistently hitting that high, not sure why. I have sticky tack under the unit too.

I installed the two shims(supplied in the 270W box) this morning. My unit from the late December Wholelattelove shipment.
I like the numeric grind settings adjustment knob up in front much better than the 1,2,3 settings area.
The new 'Grind Setting' looks like it's hovering around 11.
Update - hovering around 14. Look's like 14E is it.

You can of course hold the start button for a timed dose but given the grinding speed this can be tricky. On my Vario-W I enjoyed this feature. Has anyone figured a good workaround?

How many of you broke in your grinder with old beans? I'll admit I did not and I don't really regret it either. First shot was decent and they're getting better.
I WISH this was a feature but you have to hold the button in to go to manual mode and it tares the scale.

We can set one of the programmed buttons to .1gm or .5gm or ?gm for that tune up shot of grind.
It will tare, but you already know the weight shortage.

Is all this fiddling and workarounds any faster than weighing out what you want and then just running it through? Seems like with the excellent, zero retention design that the Sette offers, it'd be a shame not to take advantage. This is the first affordable zero retention electric grinder I know of. It's pretty exciting to have such a thing.

If it's not adjusted right, certainly not. I almost returned mine for a non-W due to frustration. But I got it working though, it's a beautiful thing.

That said - for those who have all sorts of different portafilters who want to grind directly into them, I'd go with the non-W and save $120. This thing is seems to work for one and only one style of portafilter at a time.

If anybody want some to pay shipping I have probably 30-40 lb of beans I roasted to season my huky. Was saving them for the sette but ended up not keeping it and never getting a chance to season it. Probably just put around the soil somewhere otherwise.
Yes, i you per this on an iPhone

Once set, I don't have to fiddle to use the weight dosing functionality. Single-dosing with the 270W has been the fiddly scenario for me. Single dosing with the 270 is probably more convenient. I get annoyed with the lag time on the 270W to switch to manual grinding mode. I would assume the regular 270 doesn't suffer from this lag, but I don't know. I guess after 10 years of using a Rocky with a click-clack lid and stepless mod, the effort to get good results out of the Sette seem minimal to me in comparison. Speed, cleanliness, retention, distribution, dial-in ability...so many huge upgrades for me.

Curious if anybody else is getting an insane amount of static during their grinds. I'm literally getting grinds sprayed in a 12-15inch radius. After cleaning the countertop, I weighed 3.5grams of waste after grinding a 17g dose.

happens to me on certain beans. I place the grinder on a serving tray https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00IR ... UTF8&psc=1 , all grinds stay inside the tray and i clean up once a week or so

when it sprays, it sprays like a water sprinkler... it was so damn annoying getting grinds on the counter top but now i dont mind.
