Baratza Maestro Fails Out of the Box [Video]

Postby Mike White on Sun Sep 11, 2011 7:03 am

I bought a Maestro for a good friend of mine and it stopped working the first week that she had it. The motor seems to have contact issues, as evidenced by this video. She emailed Baratza but they just sent her PDF's from the website that she already downloaded. Anyone else have Maestro issues, or recommendations for fixing it? We've already taken it apart to check for loose wires. Thanks!

Hi! I had a Baratza refub DOA and they sent out a replacement. Give them a call to address your issue.

Hi Mike,
Sorry about the problem with the Maestro. From the video, it sounds like a loose electrical connection. Please contact support@baratza.com and we'll get a replacement on it's way to you ASAP. Alternatively, if you're handy and/or in a hurry, we have great troubleshooting guides at http://www.baratza.com/troubleshooting.php where you likely could correct the issue in minutes eliminating the need to wait for a replacement grinder to ship to you.
Let us know how you'd like to proceed. Sorry for the hassle.
Regards,
Kyle

Thanks Kyle! We did contact support@baratza.com but so far the only response has been that it's unlikely the grinder is having issues, and to try using the same support documents you just linked to.

We'll try again though!

Thanks,

Mike

Long time listener, first time caller. 8)

It looks and sounds like the motor or gears are binding, most likely in the gears. Even if you are handy I would probably go the replacement route. Then you can be as happy as I am with my Baratza Maestro.
