Aluminum doserless mod for Mazzer Super Jolly

Postby Marrcel on Fri Feb 05, 2010 11:37 am

Hallo HB's,

first of al many, many thanks for al your contributions on "the" home barista forum.
To introduce myself, i'm Marcel from Haarlem Holland.
In this cold winter I have more time for in-home hobby's like brewing beer and espresso.

After 3 weeks reading this forum, i bumped into a 2nd hand 2008 Super Joly.
280 euro and Burrs in good shape.

I want to mill per shot, so doserless is for me the option.
Reading the plastic bottle mod, with the statics issue, inspired me.
Mazzer Super Jolly (2-liter bottle) doserless modification
Why not aluminum?

A piece of ducting 110mm round and 30mm pipe did it for me.
First a made spout-type but this sprayed a lot. See pictures.

The ducting cutted with scissors.

The not successful spout:

The 30mm pipe. Sawed at 45deg. Glued with silicon, for glass.

The result:

Works clean! No static at all. (Steeley Dan?)

Hope this inspires others.

Good luck, Marcel

ps.
To empty grind chamber, i hit a flat hand on top. And it blows it empty. Simple and effective.

Nice mod. Can you post a couple of pics of the way you connect the pipe to the mazzer? (like the one of the failed chute?)
thanks!
