However, there's a preamble that explains this recommendation. Contributors to this thread are advised to re-read the above guidelines to avoid a tedious repetition of the six step cycle. Thanks.

sorry if my post also stepped out of bounds ? I tried not to complain but more just voiced my thoughts as I had experience with since this was the thread subject

I would never start a thread complaining :)

but also this part of the link you posted
"Be open and honest. Many people rely on opinions presented in these forums as part of their purchase decision. The source of the information you present and basis of the opinions you express are as important at the statements themselves. For example, you should make it clear whether you speak from first hand experience, what you read elsewhere (and if appropriate, link to the source), or conventional wisdom."

this fell into the first hand experience and previous experience
I was also being honest and why I also did not say dont buy from this person I dont think I said anything negative never said I wont ever go back never called Jim a jerk ! hes not in my book and never told anyone not to buy from him as I think people should call all vendors up and find one they are happy with

I do know growing pains can suck ! but usually things get better in the end :)

just wanted to say where I was coming from so again if I stepped out of bounds I am sorry not my intention at all and my threads can be deleted or edited or whatever to keep within rules

I recently bought some cups from visions Espresso. Two of my cups were broken on arrival, and i'm not sure if it was UPS or they shipped broken. Either way, I called Visions up, and they sent me two cups wrapped in tons of bubble wrap to make sure they were shipped safely, free of charge. I haven't bought anything big from them, but they treated me quite nicely.

I've been reading this thread for awhile wanting to tell this but knowing I had to call the vendor first. I've done that and it's been 3 days so I'm guessing I've heard the end of it.

When I started down the espresso path for the second time last year I looked at Jura superautomatics for a year or so and then found this. I ended up buying a Brewtus II from WLL and a Macap M4 electronic doserless from Chris. I've fixed a couple of loose screws on the Brewtus and now that it's fully plumbed and drained I'm extreemly happy with the machine and my experience with WLL has been just peachy.

I bought the M4D from Chris based on his glowing description. At the time I know almost nothing, my last espresso grinder was either a Spong or a Whirly. Everyone here said the grinder's important so in my goal of looking for simplicity it seemed the M4D would be the perfect grinder. In reality, it's not. Mainly it clumps, secondly setting the timer is slow and annoying, it clumps, every time you adjust the grind, the timer is wrong and it holds lots of coffee in the chute and it's almost impossible to get it out.

In the beginning I knew nothing and coffee sprayed almost every shot, eventually I got a small glass jar and ground into that so I could stir the coffee to a pulp and that helped a lot.

So last week I called Chris not expecting much as it's been too long, but not expecting this.

The woman I was transferred to because Chris was to busy to talk said, it's been too long as expected and then said and we're not going to carry it any more because it clumps so badly, why don't you sell it on ebay and buy something else.

So my question is, why would someone whose such a respected vendor and who knows so much about the art of making espresso sell a $700 grinder with a glowing writeup that doesn't work right?

So the story is as usual, buyer beware and even the "trustworthy" vendors can't always be trusted.

I have this fight with my wife when we decide to sell something that I feel isn't up to my standards and just want to throw it away and she just sees the dollars.
