Need advice about equipment or want to share your latest discovery?

Hi all,

I need to replace the stem in my steam valve. Chris' doesn't sell just the stem, but older conversations on coffeegeek make me think that it's available. Does anybody know where I can get the part pictured below?

I know that this is the same valve used on older Anitas like mine, as well as the small Isomacs.

You could simply buy some 6mm PTFE rod (I think it's 6mm), trim level, (with very sharp knife) to length and replace the existing white (pretty sure it's PTFE). Very cheap and you will have enough rod to do lots of valve stems. You should be able to easily remove the existing seating.

if that doesn't take your fancy, I think this is probably the same part:

Part Number 560069

and the two o rings part number 616686

If you don't fancy doing either, as the valves are so cheap, why not simply replace it?

P.S. If you want to keep it really cheap, you might be able to get the existing one out and turn it around, if the back is not in good condition, I suppose you could pack it out a bit and re trim it level

Pretty sure that's it...I submitted a quote..have to see how much it'll be to ship to the US. Thanks!

I would try rebuilding it, but in my case, the problem is that the actual cup is breaking down, not just the seat.

Unfortunately, the entire valve isn't that cheap with the best price being $40 USD.

FYI, if anybody else is looking for this part. They're now available from Stefano's Espresso Care: Shaft Steam Valve.
