Thanks. What I notice about the Zass is that the thumb wheel to set coarseness is very touchy and could definitely use a detent to keep it put. It is hard to replicate grind fineness the way it is, and the threads are pretty coarse. It is only something like 2 or 2-1/2 turns total from the coarsest setting to the finest. You are probably right about the design of the flutes going into the final grind area at the bottom. As it is, with the lid open I can pop beans out of it when the chamber is nearly empty.
I wonder how much bigger grinders rely on the weight of the beans in the hopper to keep the feed going at a good rate. I can make this thing grind faster if I poke around in there with a tooth brush, but I hesitate to say that because we are probably getting into "do not try this at home" territory.
