I too, recently plumbed in a Vetrano. As with all plumbing jobs, it took 3 trips to Home Depot/Ace, but it was still relatively easy. The biggest problems I had were (1) Putting Teflon tape on the fitting on the bottom of the machine (it is recessed). I finally had to have my wife do it, with a pair of tweezers! (She got a little upset after she finished, and I found the "O" ring that was supposed to go in, but she redid it. And (2) when I first installed the drain, it wasn't draining. I had to reroute the drain tube. Apparently here in Florida, water only flows down, and it wasn't working when I had the drain tube flowing up over some obstructions. Go figure.

Decision made!
We bought the Vivaldi along with a Macap M4 stepless grinder and all credit goes to my wife too, who digested my months of research in a couple of days and with the help of everyone input help me take the plunge. Thanks to everyone for weighing in! Ease of use and eliminating the fear of second guessing "what-if" prevailed.

Plumbing the unit presented a bit of a challenge for me, my local hardware store did have the right parts and a trip to Lowe's (big deal when you live in NYC) still left me with parts that did not work. My wife and daughter started calling the prolonged installation "The Vivaldi Project". Thankfully Jim at 1st Line responded to all of my weekend/evening emails and shipped the right part to me Monday morning. It arrived Tuesday and had it plumbed in that last night. Yippee!!! Thanks again to Jim for his support, he is everything so many of you have praised him for. Though I had a few minor leaks at first, by this morning they seemed cleared up (lesson learned, boy do I hate doing plumbing work).

This morning I made my first shot and couple of cappas which right out of the gate were better than my nearby Starbucks. Very very exciting! Thanks to HB's how to guide, helping me get started with the grinder and explaining what the grind should look and feel like as well as how to start tweaking. Now the real fun begins! BTW the first drink was actually last night a steamed milk for daughter, which she loved! "Just like a milk shake, but hot"

Next question
Does anyone have any experience/suggestions for reducing the height of the Macap M4 hopper? Right now the hopper will clear the underside of my cabinets, but hits the edge trim by about 1/2" with the lid on and 1/8" with the lid off. I'm considering sanding down the bottom of the hopper so that it will clear the edge with the lid off. I've read about someone using a hack saw to cut down the top though I'm curious if an Olfa plastic cutter might be better. Suggestions?

Thanks!

David

Congrats!

FYI, the main S1 owners site is http://www.rimpo.org/s1/ and it has a relatively active forum as well. See you over there.

Congrats on the Vivaldi. I just received mine and have run in to the same issue with the odd sized water line. What size fitting is it? Maybe I can find an adapter at a wholesaler if I know what to ask for.

Hey Congrats on the purchase.

Sounds like peace and harmony will rein king in the home.

Enjoy
