Howdy All.
Tom C asked me to post detailed instructions on how to chop your Bunn and make a "minibunn".
I made an Instructable this morning.
http://www.instructables.com/id/Short-B ... AMiniBunn/

This is part one dealing with the cutting modifying.
Part 2 will deal with making it sexy with stainless steel and upgrading the switch.

Feel free to post comments here as well as on instructables.com
I hope to see pics of more minibunns soon
Enjoy, -Kurt

Thank you Kurt! This plus the Ditting burrs will make the ultimate cupping grinder that's commercial build quality, just a step beyond the Forte, and counter friendly. I wanted everyone to be able to see how this project finished up.

Good thing your dinosaur doesn't suffer from acrophobia. He is sooooo high up there. Turn your T-Rex into Ice-T with a lowrider Minibunn. It's what all the kids are doing these days.

Great read. Just finally made it through. Do you just use the G1 for cupping or is it your dedicated brew grinder as well? If i were to look into picking one up, what should i expect to pay for it used? I know the Ditting burrs run about 280, so is it fair to assume under 200 is a deal?

Last I read the Ditting burrs were up to $325?? Lots more G3s out there if you are looking for deals. If you plan to chop it any one of the 3 will do.

Thanks for the feedback
My G1 is for cupping and brewing. I roast and drink! The Bunn burrs on mine were new so I will let them get some use before I upgrade. I got mine free from my parents old coffee shop. They are on craigslist in varying condition for around $150ish here in CO.

Hi Kurt,

First, thanks so much for documenting your modifications in such clear detail; it is extremely helpful for a clumsy person like me as I launch into my own Bunn-conversion project.

Second, any chance you'd be willing to share some info on how you wired in the new switch? I am rebuilding a G2 and stupidly pulled some wires from the bag switch before snapping a pic of the back of the controller. Basically I want to wire in a simple on/off toggle switch, but I'm not sure how to run the wires from that switch into the controller. Never mind! I thought about it a bit more, and with the help of the wiring diagrams I found on Bunn's website, I figured it out for myself.

Thanks,
Mark

hey Mark,
here is a pic of my switch and wires.
Just the black and red/white cables are used.
This was the beefy-ist switch off the shelf at H.D.
Good luck!
