- Brew Boiler 1414 ml 100x180 diameter with 3 mm thickness rather then 2,5mm like most of the other boiler
( this avoid the need of a external thermo protection to keep temp stability)

- Steam Boiler 905x180mm thickness 2,5

Err, I read it wrong

so whatever the volume of 905x180 is.

Numbers : SPL @ 1m

C weighting : [ Nominally Flat response ]
Max Hybrid Grinder : 76
Vibiemme 65 during infusion dropping to 61 during extraction

A weighting : [ As we hear ] A weighting on wikipedia:
Max Hybrid Grinder : 75
Less that 60 in both in both cases.
In layman's terms, about twice as loud as the refrigerator.

Thanks CafeIKE, that gives it a little bit of perspective.

That should probably be 90.5. 905mm is 35.63 INCHES

Err, neither of those numbers look right.

Brew Boiler 1414 ml 100x180 diameter

would lead me to think it's a cylinder like most boilers, and at 100mm tall by a radius of 90mm (which by the way makes the cylinder really wide, but not very tall), you get a boiler that has a volume of 2.54L.

Sounds a little off...

The diameter is 90mm, the radius is 45mm. Using the basic equation for the volume of a cylinder (v=pi r^2 h), the brew boiler appears to be 1.4 liters and the steam boiler appears to be 1.1 liters. I am not sure that the measurements for the steam boiler are correct - a 1.1 liter steam boiler may be a little anemic.

My point was speculating that the boiler is 90.5 instead of 905 would be inconsistent given the fact that the brew boiler is listed as 100x180, which leads to 2.54L. (v=pi * 90^2 * 100) -> 2.54L

I'm not sure where you get a height of 90 and a radius of 45. The only two numbers given by resellers have been 905x180 and 100x180. Were you just reverse engineering the boiler numbers from the given 1.4L?

Vibiemme has made espresso machines for 30+ years.
The Domobar Super was wrung out extensively before it reached American shores.

Let's wait and see. 8)

I completely agree that the quality of espresso produced by a particular machine cannot be gauged from the spec sheet alone (although, it seems that it might be possible/easier to form an opinion of a particular machine's steaming capabilities based solely on specs such as boiler size, heating element, etc. . . ). However, one should be able to calculate the size of the steam boiler based upon the measurements listed by Stefano - and that was the question to which I was responding. Networkcrasher was calculating the volume of the boiler based upon the diameter of 90mm (which is fine if the resulting product is divided by 4). Otherwise, the radius would be 45mm, not 90mm.

I notice you are not too far away in Woodland Hills - have you found any decent local roasters, or is it all mail order or trips to LA? I have not found much in Ventura or Santa Barbara Counties.

I've found nothing in SB or Ventura, but in The Supreme Bean is in North Hollywood. In SoCal it's usually next day delivery with Ground shipping.

Out in the West Valley, Rocky Roaster on Canoga at Sherman Way is great.

Are the DB PID VBM's out yet? I saw a couple of videos on the internet.

Dang, I thought when he said "couple" he meant more than one. I've checked out that one, was just hoping there were more :D

Dan, any update on your review of the DB PID VBM machine?
thanks
