This Sprudge article might be of interest to some on the home roasting forum:

sprudge.com wrote:"Beanologies" is the Cafe Imports-coined term for the in depth information about a specific coffee; its bio, so to speak. To help inform the enlightened roasting of their coffees, they've teamed with the folks at Cropster in developing suggested roast profiles for a selection of their green coffees, to be included in their distinct "Beanologies" listings. These suggestions take the form of roast profile charts, developed using Cropster's roasting software linked directly to Cafe Imports' Probat coffee roasting apparatus.

There's this weird convergence going on between micro roasters, advanced home roasters, and vendors like Coffee Shrub, Cafe Imports and Ninety Plus. There's a similar convergence on the brewing shot pulling side as well. We've had "super-premium" auction and micro lot coffee for a while; it looks like we are getting some new styles of organization for roasting, brewing and marketing them as well.

It's rather fascinating, just in its early stages. Can't say more yet but stay tuned.

What an interesting quote by James:
There is a painful absence of information regarding roasting coffee available. There is nothing of value in books, or online bar a few interesting home roaster discussions.
(Emphasis by me)
