Due to static problems(which an original grid didn't solve one bit) it makes a mess.
I built it back to hopper after a few days. The doserless kit has been in the box since I rebuilt it back to it's original state.
I can't speak for the SJ because mine is still being shipped, but the Mini with the doserless mod is 98% static free. In fact with the small grounds tray of the Mini, below the portafilter, I barely ever have a mess outside of the tray. I also find it's pretty much the same "clumping" as I saw with the doser. I guess everyone's experience is different, and I will see if mine is any different with the SJ arrives.

I'm still stalled on this....probably a SS funnel down through the center, then a push button on a custom pf hanger...one of these days.

To update the post, there is now the Super Jolly E which is a doserless grinder. I have seen prices anywhere from 1k to $1.5k.

Here is my 'doserless now' t80e, works great and no grind retaining, as i puff a bit of Can air through the small hole on the lid at the end of the grind. also made filler salt clay(hard as a rock when dry, but can still pull burrs out to clean if needed and nontoxic) to fill the spaces between the bolt and burr and so no grinds get down under the burr.....posted this as it is very close to a SJ, some say.

I just finished a custom stainless-steel funnel inside the doser of my Fiorenzato Doge grinder. I think a similar funnel could be installed inside any doser. I made a plastic version first (picture earlier in this thread) then bought a thin 12" x 12" stainless sheet of Amazon for $15 plus shipping to make a more permanent version. I cut it with snips and bent it to shape.

The key trick is to make the edge of the funnel conform to the shape of the doser under the grind chute so there is a very small (or no) gap. I put a little teflon tape in the gap as a gasket to keep grinds from falling between the funnel and the doser wall.

You might notice that I also converted the Doge to be step-less using a Macap toothed adjuster ring and worm gear adjuster assembly. It swivels out of the way to make large adjustments/remove upper burr.

Question: has anyone had success removing the doser on a La San Marco SM-90? I can't even remove the portafilter rest. :?

On the Cafe Parts website they have a exploded view of your San Marco SM-90, it may give you an idea of what you need to do.
