Okay, how's this for customer service: my Twist v2, which I had purchased in May, wasn't working - no gas to the group head. I'm going out of town next week and had planned to take it with me. I contacted the mypressi folks and explained my predicament. They said that normally they would wait to receive the old unit for testing before sending the new unit out, but under the circumstances if I would just provide a FedEx tracking number to them for the one I was returning they would go ahead and send the new unit right away. The replacement unit was free of charge, except for the upgrade to 2 day shipping - $14.50. With a great product and exceptional service like this, I'm rooting for this company's success!

Likewise, my first generation Twist leaked, and Mypressi shipped the replacement out even before they received the return unit. I cannot say enough about their service! Definitely a company who stands behind their product!

hands down, best bang for the buck IMO

impeccable customer service to back the product too

the twist is what I would recommend to anyone with a smaller budget and/or not much room

spend the money on a good grinder and get the twist for 9bar espresso

the only drawback for me so far has been the cost of cartridges...if you don't pull a ton of shots I think it is fine...however, I estimated we would pull 2-4 shots a day around here and it has ended up being 4-9 with more on the weekends

the mypressi twist will crank them out as long as you have the cartridges to do it...there was some mention that they were working on developing an attachment that would allow you to use it without a cartridge...my guess is some sort of pump that has an adapter/hose that hooks into it

that would be very cool

I've been checking the forums here a while and have learned a lot, thanks to all...

I thought I would offer some thoughts on a couple of MyPressi issues brought up here that I have some experience with:

1. Leaking water during pre-heat... Water all over the countertop has been my single biggest annoyance with the Twist, and I think I know what the problem is. While errant coffee bits under the little flapper valve will certainly cause leakage, I think that the material itself may be contributing. I've gone through several, and in each case I see a roughness that cannot be washed away has developed on the sealing surface of the valve. Like tiny pips or blisters. How well the valve seats sort of comes and goes. The latest they've sent me seals well... now and then. I'm living with it.

2. Difficulty screwing the cartridge cap all the way in... Happens sometimes, and, yes, it blows that cartridge. One of my previous Twists was so bad that the sealing o-ring in the handle was actually shredded. I've reduced that occurrence by moistening the cart nozzle, sometimes with a touch of olive oil, sometimes just spit, and inserting the cart vertically, held in the cap, and giving everything a little shake to insure alignment as the nozzle starts through the o-ring.

I've experienced the same problems described here by others, including spontaneous, violent discharge of the gas cart while the unit was just sitting on the counter on its own. Pretty startling!

I'm on my 4th MyPressi, and this one's working well. Some will read that as an indictment, but let me finish by saying that the customer service from MyPressi has been second to none... they've been fantastic, working with me promptly and with great patience. Yes, there are some bugs remaining for their R&D to work out, but I think they might just nail it down... I hope so.

I recently got a Twist, and have been blown away by shot quality. It's not all that convenient with all the pre-heating but it has proven itself as a great stand-in when my finicky Isomac is on the fritz (more often than I'd like to admit). Because you can really only hit temps at the lower end of the scale, it is sensitive to beans and roast level and I have started roasting a bit darker when I know I'll be using the Twist.

I too have ahd issues with water leaking through the shower screen. Sometimes it's just a few drops, but usually it's a lot of water. I set the water reservior on the handle and put the Twist on a dinner platenext to the sink to keep the water off the counter. i just dump the plate into the sink between every preheat cycle.

I have gotten a replacement shower screen assembly, but it's no better. I have tried cleaning it and not, but the results are the same. I think the material of the diaghragm is at fault. I'm hoping someone develops a silicone diaphragm or something to create a better seal. I'm not sure if the diaphragm or something in the handle regulates the pressure at 9ish bar, but I have even considered trying to smash the shower screen itself a bit to seal more tightly against the diaphragm.

I get my cartridges in bulk via ebay, and there are usually a coupla guys going in with me, so we can get the larger orders. Usually less than $.25 a cartridge.

Just following up on this topic. Has anyone found a solution to the issue of the trigger getting suck and sporadic pressurizing of the bowl. I also have this problem which has pretty much made mypressi useless. This is my second unit to fail, of course just after the one year warranty period so I can't get a replacement without buying one. I have completely disassembled the handle and replaced all the o-rings inside the gas chamber mechanism but have not been able to solve the problems. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

This may have been asked before, but I really can't find info anywhere on it-- I've tried. I just received a MyPressi Twist V2 today (and can't wait to get home to try it out), but the "bestwhip" n2o cartridges I've bought haven't made it here yet.

I know four "MyPressi" cartridges come with it, but I'm wondering... it is apparently not possible in my smallish city to get whip cream chargers nor "standard soda bottle" 8g CO2 cartridges. (Stupid sodastream machines!) Now since I'm in a city of 250K -- that makes me wonder about on the road.

Can you use a 12g CO2 cartridge meant for an airgun which are readily available everywhere, or are only 8g "soda" style CO2's okay in the Twist V2? If you can occasionally use an air gun one, then Walmart or any sporting goods store can source you with one. This would be great for air travel if this was the case. All I read is the new model can use both, but I'm getting the implication that the CO2's are isi Soda and not Crossman Airgun. Am I wrong about that?

Don't want to try it on a brand new unit w/o input from someone in the know.. but then again, I'll run through the first 4 pretty fast..

Thanks,

Fred

CO2 cartridges for air guns contains oil, don't think it would make a very tasty cup :)
