Hi All, great forum!

I need a little assistance in regards to the priming time needed for an ECM Giotto. I recently picked one up, it's been in storage for about 10 years, it's in extremely clean condition inside and out and was told by the original owner it was used less than 10 times. After doing a lot of research I decided to try it out today, cleaned and filled the water tank, checked the hoses for any build up, rinsed them as well.

Turned the power on and opened the stream valve, the pump starts up and sounds fine but no water is being drawn out of the tank, I left it for about 2-3 minutes and nothing. I also primed the hoses, tried it again and still nothing. I tried it a few times but I didn't want to leave the pump running with no water going through.

Does this priming process take more time?
Will it hurt the pump if no water is going through it.?

Really appreciate any help or guidance.

Thanks,
Jeff

Is the pump type- a vibe or rotory ? The vibe pumps usually have a check valve in them. It could be gunked up or stuck. If you do a search here on the board-you will find many posts- including how to take on apart and reassemble. Should be able to pull the discharge of the hose off to check pump status. I would unplug the unit from the wall -pull one side (wire)off the heating element before you go any further - to avoid damaging the heating element until you get water into the boiler.
