I'm facing any troubles about my NS oscar.
I uploaded the movie on Youtube.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EmxoLXNcPiU When press the brew button, little water with steam come out from the group head.
After few seconds, only water come out normally.
After 30-40 seconds, the water doesn't come out, and after a few more seconds, the water come out again.
I think oscar have any problems because it should normally constant water continues to come out until the water reservoir is empty.
I tried to disassemble and clean the 3-way solenoid valve.
And I replaced the expansion valve from 98120001 to 73012002.
But this behavior didn't change.
Next, I will try to replace the pump.
Do you have any ideas for solve this problem?

I recently bought an Oscar for parts and found part of a failed retaining valve 01000090 in the group head, and the 3 way valve. This might explain your inconsistency of flow.
This is also the same valve before the steam valve assembly, refer to 4 and 12 on the hydraulic plan Oscar.

I have found a small water leak from the fitting near the inlet of heat exchanger when backflushing.
This may be related in the valve you described.
I'm going to disassemble and check it.

Same broken valve as you.
Nuova Simonelli Oscar broken HX inside of boiler?
Good chance you can find that nut at a good hardware store. I have an Ace near where I work that carries all manner of brass fittings.

Keep in mind these are European machines, and use European thread fittings, BSPP and BSPT. British Standard Pipe Parallel and Taper thread depending on the application. A US based NPT fitting may kind of work but will not fit properly, no idea what the standard is in Japan.

The nuova simonelli site has the parts list and diagram for Oscar on their site. http://nuovasimonelliusa.com/part_kits.html
I think the entire assembly is the safety valve part 98013021. That should have all the gaskets and stuff already inside. The safety valve goes for about 20 dollars US.
I'd check with Chris' Coffee or espressoparts

I thought brass fittings had a pretty universal thread, thanks for the info.cannonfodder wrote:Keep in mind these are European machines, and use European thread fittings, BSPP and BSPT.
I have been sourcing my parts from http://www.partstown.com/.

Hi all,
I received a new retaining valve today, and replaced it.
But water leak occur between Retaining Valve neplax and Nut. (see below photo)
This is the broken parts photo.
There was a torn gasket between Retaining Valve Neplax and Nut.
It was located at the edge of the Neplex.
What is this?
I think the gasket need to prevent the water leak.
But I can't find it on Oscar Parts Book.
It isn't include neplax or Retaining Valve assembly.
Does anyone know about this part number or detail information of size?
