I just picked up my next project- Rancilio Z9 AT. It uses hydraulic groups, which should be fun to rebuild. Also has autofill and the original mercury pstat. More pictures to come as I start to work on this beast.

Represent! I have an S-20 I recently rebuilt, I'd love to see some pics of this beast... I also have no experience with hydraulic controls at all but there's no reason it should be any worse than electronics and at least you don't have to worry about buying a new brain box...

The rebuild is going well, just very slowly. I got the frame stripped and powder coated and I have soaked the pipes and boiler in citric acid. I'll be ready to start putting things back together soon.

Here's a picture of it coming apart.

Everything is back together except the outer shell, and I'm almost ready to fill the boiler and throw the switch. Here's a picture of everything but a few wires on it. I'll report later when I know whether or not everything works.

Frank, are you pulling shots on this now? A funny question, but where is your switch for this Z9. I have a slowly progressing (rewiring is a bear) Z9 of my own, but I don't have a switch of any kind that I know of. Z9 Lever.

I've pulled some shots on it, but I mainly use my other machine. The power switch on my Rancilio is right above the pressure gauge. You can see the piece of silver metal that it mounts to in my most recent picture.

I'm surprised to find myself admiring the color. It looks like a unique machine that depending on the surroundings, could look quite sharp. Good luck with the rebuild.
