After spending more than a week hiking Utah national parks I'm going to be in vegas and need some good espresso.
Right now I'm in tuscon Arizona and tried espresso at a "coffee house". The woman dosed some month old crap into the portafilter (I asked her to fresh grind but she didn't really speak english). After not tamping she put it into the machine and pressed the double button. The coffee went everywhere- the floor, walls and ceiling LOL. Needless to say I got my $ back and didn't even try it.

So please help what's a good spro in vegas (my next stop)

The don't call Las Vegas the Desert for no reason, bub. From what I hear, there isn't anything better than the drek I got at the Italian cafe in the Forum at Ceaser's.
CG has a US Western States forum, and there is a thread there, but, IIRC, there was no good news there either. Feel free to check it out, though.
If you plan on taking 95, instead of 93 through Lake Mohave, (but why would you?) there is a decent place in Bullhead City, believe it or don't. It ain't spectacular, but it's better than anything I've had in 'Vegas.
Fire House Coffee Co. 1371 Hancock Rd.

Rumours that I've heard about decent coffee in 'Vegas, but don't have anything to back them up are:
Cafe Copioh
4550 S. Maryland Pkwy

Cafe Enigma
918 1/2 S. 4th Street

Cafe Espresso Roma
4440 S. Maryland Pkwy

The Gelato shop downstairs at the Bellag'

Just outside the main doors of the Plaza Hotel

G'Luck!
Espresso Sniper
One Shot, One Kill

There's an Illy in the Hard Rock, and a Lavazza somewhere else on the strip that both serve near average Italian shots to Italian and Hispanic tourists. If there's no third wave places, these may be your best bet. However, like all Vegas best bets, the house takes a cut off the top.

There's an Espressamente Illy at The Palazzo. Assume typical quality, but you can augment your cup collection...

Espresso Culture & Cuisine on the South side (9555 South Eastern Avenue). La Cimbali machine, Mazzer Super Jolly grinder, big 6.6lb tubs of Illy connected to the grinder. I ordered the double espresso and it was thin and not tasty. Then my son mentioned that they had a ristretto on the menu and I tried the single. Much better, more body, lots of crema. I watched the extraction and it was a little fast but ok. I went there 4 different times and had the ristretto each time while the family had the small cappa (and my youngest son had a ristretto also). Pretty good overall (barista dependent as always), the steamed milk had a cappa consistency (stiff foam on top) and was tasty. Not as good as Octane in Atlanta, the ristretto was not as tasty as what I usually make at home but I believe that has to do with the fact that I prefer the coffees I use at home to Illy.
I would be interested in any other's comments.

Since a ristretto extraction is extra slow, I have to ask. Was it really a ristretto, or just a single shot?

It was not as slow (restricted) as my ristrettos at home (~100% extraction ratio) but did run slower than their normal shots. I would say that their ristretto was what a normale should be. Still an improvement over their regular shot.
