I've been using the same Woodneck cloth for 4 months now using this routine. The filters never return to their original color fully, but they impart no off flavors to the brew.
Try using Oxyclean Free instead of the JoeGlo. I've found it does a much better job of cleaning the filters. I store mine dry in a cupboard after the O/F cleaning then I use each filter once & reclean.

How do you prepare coffee for a group? I attend several meetings a week and I like to donate my home roasted stuff. While I get kudos, I am disappointed in the brew. Talk about puckology - when I look at the grounds after a pot has been made I can see that some of the grounds haven't even gotten wet. I am interested in the methods others use. It could be I'll just have to accept this as it's still better coffee than we usually have.
