Well we just got hit with some nice high 20's weather here in Vancouver. That's mid to high 80's for the metric holdouts ;) I've started making short iced lattes in the morning. I find them to be such a nice treat! Pull straight into a tumbler filled with ice and then pour a little milk over top. Great way to start a hot day!

Anyone else making cold drinks?

Double shot over ice.....simple. Or, for those hot lazy weekend afternoons an iced corretto :)

My favourite cold drink for the summer:
Take 200ml mild orange juice with lots of ice and gently pour an espresso on the top of it. That's it.
The coffee will form a nice layer on the top of the orange juice, but it should be stirred before drinking.
Do not use robusta for the espresso! I suggest to use african arabicas. I prefer Rwandan or Tanzanian beans for this drink. Enjoy! :)

huh, that sounds really interesting, I'm gonna have to give that a go as it's been record heat for us and in the 30's for the last week and a half.

Trying this tomorrow! It's either going to be awesome or SiD is having a laugh with his buddies, "Hey guys, guess what I just made a bunch of HB'ers do!" :P

If this actually works, the next step will involve vodka!

Out here in Southern California it can be too hot even for iced milk drinks, so to beat the heat I'll usually do a double americano on ice.

The orange juice and espresso could be really good during breakfast before the heat really starts up. I do like having OJ and coffee one after the other, why not mix!

I make a cold Macchiato by whipping a couple of ounces of cold whole milk with one of those Spring ended milk frothers and then adding a double shot of espresso with a pinch of Stevia in it! It's cool and delicious!

And I just don't like cold espressi... neither straight shots over ice nor the iced americani.
Straight hot shots work best for me during the heat waves. Another option is yerbamate, prepared traditionally.

Btw, what's up? is it global? we have tremendous heat here in Europe too.
