Hi All,

I have a Andrea P. that is almost 1 year old. I stated it up pulled several shots and noticed the water tasted funny. I ran it several more times and the taste cleared up. I was waiting for the temp to climb up and noticed it was dropping instead of go up. The red light was on and never went to green. After an hour I got the sinking feeling I had a problem. I found on the web some pages showing me how to check the high limit switch which I did. The button was up a little but may be the normal place. If I turn off the power and let it sit a few minutes then turn it back on the water sounds like it is heating but then quickly (15 seconds later goes off). I made sure the boiler was full of water but now I am at the end of my ability to trouble shoot. I would prefer to fix it my self instead of sending it in even with warranty work. Guy thing I guess. Does anyone have a guide to trouble shooting or ideas on how I can go forward. If I cannot find any info I will have to send it back before warranty expires.

Thanks,

Don

Can you call your vendor and trouble-shoot on the phone with them?

Might be worth a shot.

I made sure the boiler was full of water . . .

One thing the dealer may ask you after you tell him that is how you made sure the boiler was at the proper level. So now, I'll ask that question.

Proper water level in that boiler is anywhere from 2/3 to 3/4 full. I'm THINKING that that boiler (along with Anita and Vetrano) is about 6.75" tall and so proper water level would be 2/3 to 3/4 of that. A way (emphasis on "A") to check the level would be to remove the tubing and fittings from one of the wands that would allow you to stick a small wooden dowel into the boiler through whichever hole DOES NOT produce interference with the heating element, i.e. a wooden dipstick.

Most common issue

I have found the most common issue on a problem like this is the water level sensors -- either in the float balls getting jammed down or water logged... or the actual sensor on the panel. But I bet you already checked that?

That is a great suggestion (and very likely the culprit) - you would think I would have thought of that as it did happen to me.

Well my method of checking the amount of water was poor. I disconnected the sensor on the water and it pumped for a few seconds then water squirts out the top of the take. I am in the dark here. I have been trying to reach my vendor since Thursday morning but no luck. Any help would be great I don't want to be left with a 1400.00 boat anchor.

Thanks,
Don
